5 EVERYDAY USES FOR TALCUM POWDER
A little secret, long before we were allowed to use makeup, a little dusting on the cheeks would give us the snowy complexion of our favorite film actresses. From those vintage floral scented bottles (Jasmine, Rose etc) that lined our grandmother’s vanity tables to the newer, smarter formulas that promise numerous benefits, the classic talcum powder has come a long way. It has many other uses...
1. Sweat-Free Skin
Talcum powders work doubly hard to absorb moisture, minimise sweat production and prevent fungal infections in the long run; plus, it also comes in handy during the monsoons, when the risk of infections rises exponentially. For best results, use it on your underarm area, behind the back of knees and any other part of your body where sweat accumulates easily. PS: You can also dust some of it in your shoes to get rid of that sweaty odour.
2. swift Falsies
Forget eyelash primers and dust some powder on your lashes with the help of a Q-tip. Next, apply two coats of mascara. You can also use powder in between coats of mascara for luscious lashes. The powder acts as a primer which gives you fuller, longer-looking lashes.
3. Dry Shampoo
If your hair is greasy and dirty and you don’t have time to have hair wash, you can use talcum powder as a dry shampoo instead. To use, sprinkle talcum powder all over your hair and gently comb it with a wide comb. Since talcum powder has good absorbent properties, it will remove excessive oiliness easily.
4. Set your make-up
Talc can absorb and remove facial oils, acting as a primer to help set your makeup for the day or night and prevent you from looking too shiny. Talcum powder can also be mixed with a powder or bronzer that is a bit too dark to lighten it up.
5. before waxing
If you get your waxing done in beauty parlors, you would have noticed them applying powder first on the skin before applying hot wax. When we apply talcum powder on our skin, it absorbs excess moisture, this makes the wax stick on to our skin firmly which makes hair removal very effective and a little bit painless too.
